IFMA Unveiled Learning Hub, Talent Bank to Strengthen Economic Growth | ClipTV Online

To strengthen and enhance facility management professionally, the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Nigeria chapter has unveiled a new initiative.

The strategic initiative is aimed at advancing industry research. It will additionally enhance facility managers collaboration with public and private sectors. Hence, the initiative will empower facility managers to deepen resilience in the industry.

IFMA underscored this initiative during her Corporate Membership function. The event, held in Lagos focuses on “Evaluating the Impact of New Energy Regulations on Facility Management – The Lagos State Example.”

IFMA further unveiled a Learning and Innovation Center for research and development purposes. Additionally, it created a Talent Bank to connect Nigeria’s facility management skills through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). IFMA Nigeria President, Engr. Sheriff Daramola noted that the association is committed to creating a formidable ecosystem for facility management professionals. He further noted that IFMA furnishes managers with adequate knowledge and practical skills needed for current industry demands.

Daramola also noted that the intended Learning and Innovation Center will become a training hub. He added that there will be certifications, corporate teamwork, networking and where valid employers meet with the talent bank. Daramola further stated that this will improve employment and and reduce industry’s skill shortage, adding that the Research and Development Platform will help advance data-driven solutions.

“Facility Management future is secure through collaboration, innovation and share commitment,” he said. Adding that “research strengthening, capacity building, government and private collaboration will enable facility management to be more capable and efficient. Resulting in sustainable business value, and enhancing the Nigerian economy, he concluded.

In his keynote address, the Lagos State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Hon. Biodun Ogunleye highlighted how the electricity sector is creating new opportunities for facility management in the State. He noted that the State electricity reforms create the chance for facility managers to strategically evolve sustainable partners to provide strong infrastructure.

Ogunleye also stated that the Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC), Lagos State Electrification Agency (LSEA), and Lagos Independent System Operators (LAISO) have established a competitive electricity market foundation. He explained that such a foundation will motivate investment, innovation, and dependable energy supply. That it will also aid facilities include renewable energy, battery storage, and smart energy management systems. Adding that such concepts will lessen operational costs while upgrading energy resilience.

“The new energy regulations are not just compliance requirements,” he said, “they are opportunities to build smarter, greener, resilient, and more efficient facilities,” he added.

“The electricity reform objective is to attain real economic growth sustainable development and facility managers will play an important role in achieving this,” he concluded.

IFMA confirmed her commitment to strengthening professional partnerships that enhances workforce development. The association also highlights that it will position facility management as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth and infrastructure development in the country.
