14 Surviving CBN Directors Sacked Amid Ongoing Purge | ClipTV Online

At least 14 of the 17 directors who initially survived the ongoing purge at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have been sacked. Since assuming office, the Governor of the CBN, Yemi Cardoso, has embarked on major reforms, which include a significant reduction in staff numbers.

Cliptv Online reported that several senior staff members from the era of the former Governor, Godwin Emefiele, were initially spared during the massive retrenchment that began in March. However, these individuals have now been dismissed. According to CBN sources, the total number of affected staff is nearly 600, with virtually all employees working in the Governor’s Directorate being sacked.

It was also revealed that engagement letters for an additional 200 staff have been signed and will be issued in the coming days.

List of Affected Directors:

  1. Clement Oluranti Buari, Director, Strategy Management
  2. Dr. Blaise Ijebor, Director, Risk Management
  3. Lydia Ifeanyichukwu Alfa, Director, Internal Audit
  4. Jimoh Musa Itopa, Director, Capacity Development
  5. Muhammad Abba, Director, Human Resources
  6. Rabiu Musa, Director, Finance
  7. Dr. Mahmud Hassan, Director, Trade & Exchange
  8. Dr. Ozoemena S. Nnaji, Director, Statistics
  9. Dr. Omolara Duke, Director, Financial Markets
  10. Chibuike D. Nwaegerue, Director, Other Financial Institutions Supervision
  11. Chibuzo A. Efobi, Director, Payments System Management
  12. Haruna Bala Mustafa, Director, Financial Policy and Regulation
  13. Rakiya Shuaibu Mohammed, Director, Information Technology
  14. Benjamin Nnadi, Director, Reserve Management

These actions are part of Governor Cardoso’s broader effort to reform the apex bank and streamline its operations. The CBN has yet to issue an official statement regarding these recent dismissals, but the ongoing restructuring indicates a significant shift in the bank’s operational approach.
