An eyewitnesses describe the situation of a hit-and-run incident that occurred earlier today. The accident occurred at around 10:00pm on Maryland bridge.

One middle-aged man, identified as Friday, claimed to have witnessed the accident firsthand. According to Friday, the car involved in the accident was a Toyota Sienna. He tried to stop the car but to no avail. He then attempted to help by carrying the victim from the road. “She wanted to cross but could not see the car in time, so she was hit by the car,” he said.

Friday noted that initially, there was no one available to lend immediate help. However, after calling the Lagos State emergency service number, two buses arrived in a short time.

Another witness, who chose to remain anonymous but identified himself as a BRT security guard, also reported witnessing the incident. He said, “Upon witnessing the incident, I called 767 and 112. It did not take long for them to arrive.” He underscored the severity of the accident, saying, “I never believed this woman would still be alive till now; it is God’s doing.” He applaud the emergency services, saying they arrived promptly to salvage the situation.

A member of the medical team who spoke with our correspondent confirmed that the victim is receiving medical attention. “She is in safe hands now,” he said confidently. “After this, she will be transferred to the next appropriate medical center for adequate management,” he concluded.
