The Lagos State Government emphasizes the critical importance of effective traffic management, citing it as a key factor in global economic growth, according to Hon. Sola Giwa, Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation.
During a re-training workshop for 250 LASTMA Senior Officers on Incident Management, Hon. Giwa highlighted the workshop’s alignment with the state’s development pillars, particularly in traffic management and transportation.
Giwa stressed that while traffic congestion is inevitable, preventing major incidents is crucial for Lagos and Nigeria’s economic prosperity.
He underscored the role of traffic management in enhancing commerce, especially considering Lagos as the nation’s economic hub.
The government’s new re-training modules aim to enhance officers’ execution of duties and familiarize them with innovative methods to meet international standards in traffic management.
In his address, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, Ag. General Manager of LASTMA, expressed gratitude for the re-training opportunity provided by the Lagos State Government.
He urged senior officers to take the workshop seriously and uphold professionalism when interacting with the motoring public.
The Lagos State Government, in collaboration with relevant bodies, has trained a total of 500 senior LASTMA officers on Incident Management, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing traffic management capabilities.
