Distinguished medical stakeholders, doctors, professors, and students, gathered to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) on Friday.

Established in February 1999 under the leadership of Colonel Mohammed Buba Maruwa, LASUCOM has achieved significant growth and success in a relatively short period, setting a benchmark for contemporary medical institutions.

Mr. Tolani Sule, the Lagos State Honorable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, reflected on LASUCOM’s accomplishments, emphasizing its potential for further advancement in the next decade.

He underscored Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEME + Agenda, highlighting education and technology as integral components. Mr. Tolani reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting LASUCOM’s development, ensuring the provision of necessary resources for optimal teaching and learning conditions.

Acknowledging the contributions of LASUCOM’s founding fathers and supporters, Mr. Tolani emphasized the importance of recognizing and honoring those who have contributed to the institution’s success. He also addressed challenges highlighted during the event, pledging to address them promptly to enhance LASUCOM’s effectiveness and efficiency.

Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab; Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi; Immediate past Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olajide Idris; Professor Adesegun Fatusi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo State and many others.
