Spectrum Roadmap: NCC Scheduled Public Inquiry on New Wireless Guidelines | ClipTV Online

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that it is holding a public inquiry on key regulatory frameworks which is aimed at shaping Nigeria’s spectrum management and advancing broadband and wireless connectivity across the nation.

This public disclosure was announced on Wednesday. The commission stated that the inquiry will focus on 2025 – 2030 Spectrum Roadmap. Stating that these will serve as Guidelines for the Use of the 60GHz Band for Multi-Gigabit Wireless Systems, and the Guidelines for the Use of the Lower Part of the 6GHz Band for WiFi-6 in Nigeria.

“The initiative is in line with the commission’s statutory powers under the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003,” said NCC. This is particularly on Section 58, which mandates stakeholder consultation in the formulation of regulatory instruments.

NCC further said that the draft frameworks are designed to support efficient spectrum utilization. Also, it will encourage innovation, improve broadband capacity, and position Nigeria to meet the high-speed wireless growing demand.

Therefore, as part of the consultative process NCC is inviting industry operators, stakeholders, and members of the public to participate in a virtual public inquiry, scheduled for January 19 and 20, 2026.

The Commission therefore noted that feedback from stakeholders will help refine the draft frameworks. Additionally, reports from Stakeholders will reflect market realities, technological developments, and national digital development objectives.

The public notice was signed by the head of public affairs department, Mrs. Nnenna Ukoha. In the notice, Mrs. Ukoha reiterated the commitment of the Commission to transparency and inclusiveness in upholding Nigeria’s digital economy.
