A Kano resident, Adamu, met a tragic end after receiving what he believed to be an urgent call regarding a job offer. His lifeless body was discovered two days later in a backstreet location in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano.
According to Abdullahi Abubakar, Adamu’s younger brother, the victim had high hopes of securing a job deal he had been eagerly pursuing. Adamu, who worked with the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), was aspiring to join the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and someone had promised to help him secure the offer.
Tragically, Adamu’s trust was exploited when he received a phone call related to the job offer and left home to meet the caller. His family, concerned when he didn’t return home, began tracking his calls. The last words of his conversation with the caller, which ended with “Alhamdulillah,” suggested that he had been lured into believing the offer was genuine.
Subsequently, a suspect named Zubairu was arrested, with preliminary investigations revealing a gruesome plot. Zubairu confessed to conspiring with two others to lure Adamu to his house, where they violently attacked him until he became motionless. They then disposed of his body and stole his car and mobile phone.
The motive behind this heinous act was Zubairu’s deceitful collection of three million naira from Adamu under false pretenses of securing a job offer. Unable to return the money, Zubairu resorted to murder.
The tragic loss of Adamu has left his family and loved ones in deep anguish, as they grapple with the betrayal of trust that led to his untimely demise. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of exploitation and deceit in pursuit of employment opportunities.
