Fidelity Bank Reports Impressive 45% Surge in Gross Earnings

Fidelity Bank Stock Record 20% Growth

In a remarkable turn of events, Fidelity Bank Plc has announced a staggering 45% increase in gross earnings for the 2025 financial year. This growth comes on the heels of the bank’s shareholders’ funds surpassing the N1 trillion mark, attributed to ongoing balance sheet expansion and a successful capital injection.

According to the bank’s audited financial statements for the year ending December 31, 2025, gross earnings reached an impressive N1.5 trillion, a significant rise from N1.04 trillion reported in 2024.

Key Financial Highlights

Fidelity Bank has showcased notable improvements in various financial metrics. Net Interest Income climbed to N831.3 billion, up from N629.7 billion in the previous year. This increase highlights the bank’s strengthened earning capacity, supported by elevated interest rates and growth in interest-earning assets.

Interest and similar income also saw a notable rise, growing by 38.7% to N1.11 trillion from N803.05 billion in 2024. Other interest income increased by 25.1%, totaling N184.51 billion. Furthermore, net interest income after credit loss rose significantly by 41.2%, reaching N809.74 billion, compared to N573.33 billion in the prior year. The bank’s credit loss expenses improved remarkably, dropping to N21.61 billion from N56.44 billion—a 61.7% year-on-year improvement.

Expanding Digital Footprint

Fidelity Bank has continued to enhance its digital banking capabilities and improve customer experiences. The bank’s non-interest revenue was equally impressive, with fee and commission income skyrocketing by 44.7% to N113.36 billion, driven by services such as letters of credit commissions, ATM charges, and electronic banking activities.

Investment Growth

The bank’s investment assets also saw substantial growth, with debt instruments at fair value through other comprehensive income (FVOCI) rising by 199% to N557.78 billion, and debt instruments at amortized cost increasing by 27.2% to N1.97 trillion. Additionally, the bank reported a 280.7% increase in gains from financial assets measured at fair value through profit or loss (FVTPL).

Strong Balance Sheet

On the balance sheet front, cash and cash equivalents surged by 87% to N1.32 trillion, reflecting improved liquidity. Customer deposits increased by 16.1% to N6.89 trillion, showcasing sustained customer confidence in the bank.

Fidelity Bank also fortified its capital position, with total equity rising by 21.1% to N1.09 trillion. This milestone not only propels shareholders’ funds above the N1 trillion threshold but also positions the bank to take on larger transactions and expand its regional and international banking ambitions.

In December 2025, the bank completed a private placement of 12.9 billion ordinary shares, successfully raising fresh capital that bolstered its eligible capital to N532.6 billion, surpassing the Central Bank of Nigeria’s minimum requirement for banks with international authorisation.

Looking Ahead

The strong capital base and robust performance across key financial metrics signal a promising future for Fidelity Bank. As it continues to focus on financing larger transactions and expanding its lending activities, the bank is well-positioned to seize future growth opportunities both locally and internationally.
