On Friday 18 Dec 2020, the *_Coordinator; Comr Asoro Abubakri Olatunji_* participated at the twitter dialogue of Public Health Sustainable Advocacy Initiative (PSHAI) which was streamed live from Lagos State Chamber for Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja.
The theme of the dialogue was COVID 19: IMPACT ON SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH OF ADOLESCENTS AND YOUTHS – WAY FORWARD.
While airing his opinion as panelist, the Coordinator noted that before the lockdown, issues relating to sexual harassment prompted the youth council under his leadership to conceive the idea of a WALK AGAINST RAPE in Ikorodu West LCDA. He noted that the lockdown makes the victims more vulnerable, hence, the youth council’s partnership with an NGO (FARCE) organised a day sensitisation program on 17th December 2020 on how to prevent rape, reporting and how to access probono (free) legal services, all in a bit to achieve a zero sexual harassment in Ikorodu West LCDA.
Comr Asoro emphasised more on the need for awareness and continuous education so that when victims report cases, the perpetuators can be brought to book.
Several resolutions were made at the end of the program while PSHAI also review the impact of her advocacy on the Lagos State 2020 budget on Sexual Reproductive Health of young people and their accessibility to health care system.
