LASG TO APPREHEND FAKE HAWKERS REVENUE COLLECTOR

The Lagos State Government has warned the fake revenue collectors who illegally extort money from the vulnerable street hawkers for stealing sake as government is set to apprehend the perpetrators soon.

The Commissioner for the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, (WAPA), Hon. Mrs Cecilia Bolaji Dada made this known on Tuesday during the ministerial Press Briefing to mark the 2nd year in Office of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo Olu held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press centre, that it has been the ministry commitment to protect the rights of vulnerable women and youths in the state against all threats.

Hon. Commissioner stated that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu office assumption on the 29th of May 2019, was attached with promises to arculate the concept of reawakening a greater Lagos which is achievable through teamwork, commitment, vigilance, creativity and participatory governance.

She therefore stressed that a lot of people have said that WAPA is doing nothing in the State but she urged the media to join the ministry in her programmes for a wide coverage and confirm that the ministry is working.

She however revealed that WAPA was able to intervein in the issue of 46 males and 378 females cases of the year 2020 through which about 46 men and 378 women found amidst the total number of the domestic violence in the year 2020.

While she added that in the statistics report of the ministry of the year 2021, the month of January that 43 men and 286 women were reported to be gender based of the domestic violence issue.

She expressed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has not stopped to empower the best students in the State with cash gifts to be self employed in the short term skill acquisition programme because some students lack adequate financial support to move on in life and that was the reason the best students were given 100,000 naira each across the 57 Local government in Lagos state to start their businesses.

Others in attendance were the Commissioner for the ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, Permanent Secretary of WAPA,Mrs Oluyemi Kalesanwo and the P. S of the ministry of Information and Strategy, Mr. Olusina Thorpe.
