Nigeria Police Fund Needs To Be Implemented – Emmanuel – ClipTv Online

Nigeria government and management of the Nigeria Police Trust fund have been urged to address the urgent implementation of the police trust fund basically to restore the police confidence and meet their needs.

The National Coordinator of the Network on Police Reform in Nigeria (NOPRIN) Foundation, Mr. Ikuele Emmanuel made this known on Thursday at the media parley held at kleen hall, Ojodu Berger Lagos in collaboration with the human rights law service (HURILAWS), that after the signing of the Nigeria police trust fund into laws since the year 2019 that there has not been its implementation and had been complaints by the series of the police IG of lack of fund and resources to tackle the insecurity challenges and carry out the major duty of the police officers in the country.

He expressed that there is a need of respective board of trustee to give accurate account towards the trust fund and erase the issue of corruption in the police sector while the old police personnel and new needed to be retrained on the use of the laws appropriately.

He informed that this is the high time the police started implementing the wonderful acts of the 2015 laws because the police trust fund was an alternative fund to compliment the budgetary allocation of the Nigeria Police which the police personnel must have the knowledge in their 6 months training to be the democratic police officers who have respect for the rule of laws.

The representative of (HURILAWS), Mr. Collins Okeke said if the federal government in the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari, National Assembly could correct the wrong operation in the Nigeria police system and its acts, it would go a long way he said.

The former Executive Secretary of LSSTF, Mr. Fola Arthur – Worrey called therefore the coalition in his address to speed up its writing acts to address the nigeria President, the speaker of the senate and the National Assembly so as to proffer solution to this problems of the trust fund which was meant to support the police in all materials as well as this is going to make a difference if its well implemented.

Arthur said that Lagos state government’s adoption of the model of Trust Fund since 2007 to help in supporting the police does not address the basic problems of the Nigeria police.
