POCACOV, Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Sensitises Transporters, Traders on Drug Abuse | ClipTV Online

The Lagos State Police Command, through its Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), has partnered with the Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) to sensitise transport operators, traders and other stakeholders on the dangers of drug abuse, cultism and election-related violence.

The awareness programme, held at the Apapa-Iganmu LCDA Secretariat, formed part of the Command’s ongoing community policing and crime prevention initiatives aimed at promoting peace, public safety and responsible civic conduct.

Representing the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, Area Commander, Area B Command, ACP Onyinyechi Onwuamaegbu, urged participants to reject all forms of criminality and embrace lawful behaviour.

She emphasised the important role transport operators, market men and women, and other community stakeholders play in maintaining peace and security, noting that their cooperation is vital to the success of policing efforts across the state.

ACP Onwuamaegbu encouraged participants to support the Police by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and apprehending offenders. She also cautioned them against harbouring criminal elements within their communities, stressing that community vigilance remains a key component of effective policing.

The sensitisation programme featured goodwill messages from the Executive Chairman of the Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Divisional Police Officers and other stakeholders, who collectively underscored the need for stronger collaboration between security agencies and the public in tackling social vices.

Speakers at the event highlighted the dangers posed by drug abuse, cultism and election violence, urging residents to take collective responsibility for safeguarding their communities and promoting peaceful coexistence.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained public enlightenment campaigns through POCACOV, noting that continuous engagement with communities remains essential to preventing crime, discouraging youth involvement in social vices and fostering a safer Lagos for all residents.
