In an unprecedented generosity and community support, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju (SKO), has infused over N6 million into Ikorodu West. This donations directly land in the hands of 250 grateful members of the Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA). This financial empowerment initiative, which took place on Tuesday and Thursday, was meticulously designed. It is to ease the financial burdens of community members, amid the escalating costs of commodities affecting the region.

Sectors of the Community

The beneficiaries, drawn from various sectors of the community including religious organizations, CDAs, CDCs, youth and market associations. It also cut across traditional rulers, each received a substantial sum of N20,000. This cash injection is seen as a critical lifeline to cushion the adverse effects of the soaring commodity prices.

During the empowerment program, Hon. Otunba Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the community for their unwavering support. He highlighted an ambitious plan to launch the Ikorodu West LCDA subsidized market. The subsidy promising food items at 40% discount from market prices. “This market will be available once every month,” SKO declared. He mentioned it that it is as an essential measure to complement state and federal efforts to mitigate the impacts of inflation. He revealed that the initiative had previously benefitted other wards within the LCDA.

Batife also announced the formation of a committee tasked with reducing food prices by 50%.
