Tragic Collision on Badagry Expressway Claims 15 Lives, Injures 9 | Cliptv Online

A devastating accident on the Badagry Expressway has claimed the lives of 15 individuals and left 9 others injured. The collision involved a truck and a Mazda L2000 bus and occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the incident took place at approximately 7:31 am.

Among the victims were nine male adults, five female adults, and one female child. The FRSC confirmed that 14 individuals were brought in dead, while one person passed away at the hospital. The injured parties are currently receiving treatment at Badagry General Hospital, while the deceased have been transported to the hospital’s morgue.

Corps Commander Babatunde Farinloye, the Lagos Sector Commander of the FRSC, expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a speedy recovery. He emphasized the importance of caution and defensive driving techniques, stating that the accident could have been avoided if the drivers had exercised common sense and adhered to road traffic regulations.

The crash occurred during heavy rainfall and was attributed to overspeeding and reckless overtaking. The drivers, traveling in opposite directions, lost control of their vehicles, resulting in a head-on collision. Commander Farinloye cautioned motorists to be more cautious, especially as the road is currently undergoing reconstruction. He urged drivers to abide by speed limits and emphasized the need for vigilance during the rainy season.

The FRSC reiterated its commitment to holding accountable those who violate road traffic regulations. Commander Farinloye also called on passengers to actively contribute to their safety by alerting drivers to any observed violations during their journeys.

As investigations into the accident continue, it serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of responsible driving and adherence to safety measures on the road. The FRSC urges all motorists to exercise caution, particularly during adverse weather conditions, to prevent further loss of lives on Nigerian roads.
