The 5th edition of the Women Entrepreneurs & Executives in Tech (WEETS) Summit and Awards 2025, held at Radisson Blu Hotels, Ikeja, Lagos, has brought together Nigeria’s brightest minds in technology and entrepreneurship. This is to celebrate innovation, resilience, and the advancement of women in the digital space.

Organised by TL Media and Communications, the summit honoured 25 Entrepreneurship Experts with the prestigious Techlife Awards for their outstanding contributions to women’s development and participation in Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem.

Convener Ugochi Emmanuel expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of both the public and private sectors, noting that the recognition of entrepreneurship experts is pivotal in advancing Techlife’s five-year commitment to a woman-driven digital future.

“Despite the economic challenges, we pressed forward without discouragement. Our focus remains on empowering women and youth with digital tools, ensuring that every woman has access to opportunities in the tech space,” Emmanuel said.

She highlighted the impact of WEETS initiatives, including an annual two-day bootcamp where participants receive training and certificates at no cost—thanks to the support of partner organisations. A new book, Digital World, was also launched at the event, underscoring the importance of equipping women with the knowledge to leverage digital tools for business and personal growth.

Infratel Africa Expands Rural Connectivity

One of the summit’s key highlights was the announcement by Infratel Africa, a leading telecommunications and infrastructure development company, that it has connected over 250 rural communities across Nigeria, expanding access to digital services.

Co-founder Dr. Tola Yusuf noted that the initiative has transformed lives through solutions such as mobile banking, digital payments, telemedicine, and e-learning platforms.

“Millions of Nigerians remain underserved or unserved. Our mission is to break down barriers to connectivity so that no one is left out of the digital future. Connectivity cannot be done in isolation—it requires collaboration and shared vision,” Yusuf said.

Morayo Brown Speaks on Life After TVC

The summit also featured an inspiring moment with Morayo Brown, the beloved former TVC anchor, who addressed speculations about her exit from the station.

Dismissing rumours of a rift, she revealed that her departure after 12 years was driven by the need for rest and the pursuit of new opportunities.

“After nurturing the show for over a decade, I realized I have the capacity for more. It is not an end, but the beginning of something greater,” she affirmed, hinting at an upcoming project.

Expressing gratitude to her loyal audience, Brown attributed her journey to divine grace, saying: “It is the mercy of God… He is using me as a tool.”

She concluded with a powerful message to her admirers: “Stay tuned. The Queen of Talk Shows will be back!”
