President Russell M. Nelson, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Beloved Prophet and Global Leader, Passes Away.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints leader, President Russell Marion Nelson, a world-famous heart surgeon died yesterday. He left a legacy of faith, service and an inspirational leadership that will be recalled by millions of people across the world.

On April 7, 1984, President Nelson was ordained an Apostle of the Lord, and he served over the next 35 years in good faith in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. In January 2018, he was sustained as the 17th President and Prophet of the Church, leading members around the world through wisdom, compassion and revelations.

As the mouthpiece of God, President Nelson has made remarkable transformation and impactful contributions to the programs that enhanced family relationships and intensified members discipleship. These included not only the introduction of ministering assignments but also He noted that “we need to minister in a holier way,” he said.

Furthermore, President inspired Home-Centered, Church-Supported initiative, which urged families to devote themselves to learning the gospel at home and be supported by the Come Follow Me study in the Church. Thereby, members spend more time with family learning about the Savior Jesus Christ.

Another trait of his leadership was the unprecedented development of the temples. During his leadership, the Church has declared the erection of 200 new temples; this will bring divine covenants and blessings nearer to the Latter-day Saints across the world.

Prior to his full-time Church leader, President Nelson was an internationally renowned heart surgeon and medical leader who made numerous contributions to the medical industry. He was equally brilliant in his work, and just as loyal to his religion and family.

He was survived by 8 children, 57 grandchildren and over 160 great-grandchildren.

Millions are still inspired by the teachings of President Nelson. One of his dearest admonitions was that members should not give up in their efforts to be better. “The Lord loves effort,” he said. He encouraged everybody to come near to Jesus Christ by faithfulness and genuine devotion.
