Former Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN, has vehemently denied the baseless and defamatory allegation of his involvement in drafting the judgment for the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) Judges. Expressing his disappointment with the spread of false information on social media platforms, Fashola called on security agencies to take action against those responsible for the act, deeming it dangerous and an attempt to undermine the judiciary.

In his clarification, Fashola highlighted that he had been away from Abuja for an extended period of time, rendering the claims unfounded. He condemned the individuals behind the allegations, referring to them as agents of destabilization. Initiating the process of filing formal petitions against the offensive tweets and online reports with the microblogging site, X, and the National Communications Commission (NCC), Fashola emphasized the importance of upholding judicial independence.

Fashola’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Hakeem Bello, urged the public to disregard the false allegations and encouraged them to report any individuals involved in spreading such misinformation to the relevant security agencies. The former minister stressed the need to unmask the perpetrators and their sponsors to ensure they face appropriate legal consequences, as these allegations threaten the integrity of the judiciary and democratic processes.
