Renowned Lagos socialite and entrepreneur, Farida Abdulkabir, popularly known as Farida Sobowale, has publicly expressed her apologies to her children following her recent suicide attempt by trying to jump off the Third Mainland Bridge.
Farida Sobowale, the owner of House of Phreedah skincare in Surulere, Lagos, has cited a combination of frustrations and a failed marriage as contributing factors to her drastic action.
The successful skin vendor shared in a widely circulated voice note on social media that her marriage, which involved a significant sum of N100 million, to another prominent Lagos socialite, Demola Okulaja, disintegrated within just two months.
As a result of the turmoil caused by the collapsed marriage, Sobowale, who found herself battling with depression, confessed that she had contemplated ending her life.
This incident has brought to the forefront the challenges many individuals, even those in the public eye, face in dealing with personal struggles. Farida Sobowale’s candid acknowledgment of her struggles and subsequent apology to her children serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support within the society.
