…Swift Action Follows President Tinubu’s Suspension of NSIPA Boss
In a rapid response to the unfolding financial irregularities at the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly frozen N30 billion out of the N44 billion that was suspiciously transferred from NSIPA accounts.
This development transpired within hours of the suspension of Halima Shehu, the embattled National Coordinator of NSIPA, by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Shehu, who is currently in custody following her detention by the EFCC, faces scrutiny in connection to the alleged financial misconduct.
An anonymous source disclosed to The Nation on Wednesday that after thorough interrogation and scrutiny of numerous accounts, the EFCC uncovered the unauthorized movement of N44 billion from NSIPA’s account to various private and corporate accounts. The freezing of N30 billion is a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the suspected fraud, signaling the anti-graft agency’s commitment to addressing financial improprieties.
