Hand2Hand Sports Foundation Expands Scholarship Programme | ClipTV Online

The Hand2Hand Sports Foundation, led by former handball star Richard Agbonifo, continues its mission of transforming the lives of underprivileged children. Adding to their Scholarship Programme, nine more teenagers—four girls and five boys—have been enrolled, bringing the total beneficiaries to 18.

Founded on the principles of education and sports, the NGO identifies and supports children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Therefore, providing them with opportunities for academic growth and athletic development. Through mentorship and encouragement, the foundation aims to empower these youngsters to excel both academically and athletically.

One of the volunteers, Edith Anum-Oku, a member of the Scholarship Sub-Committee, explained that the beneficiaries are either found directly on the streets or referred to the NGO by concerned individuals.

During the 2024 Annual General Meeting held in Abuja over the weekend, mothers accompanying the children were reminded of the importance of holistic development, emphasizing the need for academic, physical, and sports-oriented growth.

The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Dr. Lydia Gbagi, a friend of the foundation and a Director at the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and Mallam Hashimu Adamu, the Director of School Sports at the FCT Secondary Education Board.

The foundation’s activities for the year will culminate in a Cadet Handball Tournament for Under 12 and 15 Boys and Girls on Thursday, April 18, at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja.
