In a strategic move to enhance vocational skills and strengthen Nigeria’s furniture industry, H&Y Furniture Manufacturers Limited has partnered with the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) to train young Nigerians in modern furniture manufacturing techniques.

The collaboration was unveiled on Wednesday during a courtesy visit and facility tour of H&Y Furniture Manufacturers’ state-of-the-art semi-automated factory in Ibeshe, Ikorodu, Lagos, led by the Executive Secretary of LASTVEB and other senior officials of the board.

H&Y Empowering Youths

Speaking at the event, Mrs. Feyisola Abiru, Managing Director of H&Y Furniture Manufacturers, emphasized the importance of equipping young Nigerians. Stating youths should be empowered with globally competitive vocational skills. She further highlighted that the company’s training arm, H&Y Woodcraft EPIIC Academy, is dedicated to developing a skilled workforce. Which is done through hands-on training in modern furniture technology while instilling core values of Excellence, Partnership, Integrity, Innovation, and Customer Care.

“For Nigeria to achieve its full potential, vocational skills training must be prioritized. Through H&Y Woodcraft EPIIC Academy, we provide hands-on training that empowers young talents with the expertise needed to thrive in the furniture manufacturing industry,” Abiru stated.

Commending the initiative, Mrs. Azeez, Executive Secretary of LASTVEB, praised H&Y for its commitment to national socio-economic development through skill acquisition and capacity-building programs.

She reaffirmed LASTVEB’s readiness to collaborate with H&Y Woodcraft Academy through its network of technical colleges, ensuring that more young Nigerians gain industry-relevant training and employment opportunities in the furniture manufacturing sector.
