The Lagos State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adegoke Fayoade, mni, is delighted to announce a significant breakthrough achieved on Thursday, July 4, 2024. Our intelligence assets provided credible and actionable information regarding a notorious gang planning to kidnap high net-worth individuals in Lagos.
Upon receiving this intelligence two weeks ago, CP Fayoade directed the Command’s tactical teams to initiate close monitoring and follow-up operations. They determined the gang’s planned strike in the Ladipo area and prepared an ambush.

Caught by surprise, the kidnappers engaged the police in a shootout but ultimately succumbed to the superior firepower of the police. Nine gang members were neutralized, while two escaped with gunshot injuries. Recovered from the scene were four AK-47 rifles, four locally-made semiautomatic pistols, nine AK-47 magazines, three walkie-talkies, one POS machine, a loudspeaker, and two operational vehicles: a black Toyota 4Runner and a blue Lexus RX350. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The Command had been tracking this gang for eight months due to their involvement in multiple kidnappings in Isolo, Okota, Ejigbo, and Ladipo. We are proud to declare that their reign of terror has come to an end.

This success adds to our recent achievements in identifying and apprehending gangs of kidnappers and armed robbers. To protect the identities of those who provided information, many of these operations were not made public.
We urge everyone, including medical practitioners, to report anyone with gunshot injuries to the nearest police station or call our emergency numbers. We also call on all Lagosians to report any suspicious activities promptly. Your safety and security remain our top priority.
