The Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity. During the intelligence-led operation in Imota, the command recovered firearms, ammunition and other dangerous weapons.
The operation followed credible intelligence from residents on the activities of suspected cultists in the area. Acting on the information, police operatives raided the location and arrested Jelili Adeyemo (37), alleged to be the group’s armourer, Bisoye Adewale (42) and John Okeafo (60).
Items recovered from the suspects include different dangerous items, handcuffs and among other exhibits.
Preliminary investigations identified the suspects as members of the Aiye Confraternity. Police also alleged that the recovered Beretta pistol belongs to a notorious cultist known as “Mayibone,” who remains at large.
The suspects have since been arraigned in court and remanded. Police continue efforts to arrest other fleeing members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating cultism and other violent crimes across the state. He urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information to strengthen crime-fighting efforts.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious persons and activities through the nearest police station or its emergency lines.
