NECO Records Over 1.2 Million Candidates in 2023 SSCE | Cliptv Online

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has achieved a significant milestone in the 2023 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) with a record-breaking number of candidates. According to a statement signed by Head of Information, Azeez Sani, NECO Registrar Professor Dantani Wushishi announced that a total of 1,205,888 applicants registered for this year’s examination.

This year’s figure marks one of the highest numbers of senior secondary school candidates to sit for the NECO examination in a single sitting. The Registrar revealed that out of the total candidates, 601,074 are male, while 584,814 are female, indicating a relatively equal representation of gender.

Professor Dantani Wushishi personally monitored the conduct of the ongoing examination in selected schools across Plateau, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa, and Bauchi states. He expressed satisfaction with the general conduct of the 2023 SSCE, based on nationwide reports.

The Registrar also highlighted that this year’s examination has been the most organized in recent years, thanks to the various measures put in place to curb examination malpractice. These measures have proven effective in maintaining the integrity of the examination process and ensuring a fair and level playing field for all candidates.

With the 2023 SSCE set to conclude next week, the NECO Registrar’s optimism reflects the success of their efforts to create an environment conducive to credible and transparent examinations. As the country’s education system continues to evolve, NECO remains committed to upholding the highest standards of examination integrity and promoting excellence in education nationwide.
