RE: OKADA RESTRICTIONS ON DEDICATED LANES IN LAGOS: SARKI OVERALL OF ALIMOSHO CALLS FOR CAUTION

The Sarki overall of Alimosho local government, HRH Alhaji Ahmed Haruna Kuraja, has in the wake of recurring confrontations between commercial motorcycle operators (Okada Riders) and security operatives (The Police), in Lagos, called on operators especially of northern extraction to guard against throwing caution to the wind, even, as he frowned at misapplication of mandate by some security personnel.

Tendering his view with regards to the most recent crisis in Ogba area of the state, the royal father, noted that, his most recent findings, confirmed to him that, the revised Lagos state traffic law 2018, is still in force, meaning that, restrictions on dedicated lanes are still binding and hence, called on Okada operators of the Arewa communities across Lagos, to not under any guise flout the laws, maintaining that, doing so, will mean, daring constituted authorities, which conversely attracts the full weight of the laws.

Continuing, he said, it is rather unfortunate that, souls had to be lost as reported in the news due to the Ogba incident and I seize this medium to seek the proactive intervention of the police command in Lagos towards curtailing untoward actions or inactions of a few personnel that are capable of reversing the gains been recorded in the fight against crimes of all shades in the state.

In my capacity as the chairman of the chieftaincy council of Arewa community Alimosho local government, I shall in collaboration with the assembly of Sarkis in our council, continue to sensitize and reorientate our communities on the position of the laws regarding commercial motorcycle operations in the state, with a view to dwarfing the rate of lawlessness and the potential for breakdown of law and order, concluded the royalty
