In a recent summit organized by Schooliply on transforming Africa Education, social entrepreneur Prince Gideon Olanrewaju, CEO of Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), emphasized five crucial components of education.

He spoke on five components of education, which are Access, Equity, Quality, Rights, and Inclusiveness. Olanrewaju stressed the need for every child, regardless of gender, to have equal access to quality education. He also advocate for the government’s intervention to ensure this fundamental right.

Afolabi Imoukhuode, the keynote speaker, echoed Nelson Mandela’s sentiment that “Education is the greatest weapon by which you can change the world,” he said.

He emphasized the need for Africa’s education system to evolve. Imoukhuode proposed transitioning from summative to formative assessment, fostering continuous feedback and improvement in the learning process.

Imoukhuode also highlighted the transformative role of technology in education. Advocating for technology integration into learning to break down geographical barriers and promote global access to knowledge.

Meanwhile, Tunde Onakoya, a national chess master and founder of Chess in Slums Africa, highlighted the urgency of combating barriers to education in Africa.

Onakoya emphasized that education should be entirely free, advocating for the elimination of all financial commitments for students. This would encompass not only tuition but also the provision of free books, uniforms, and other educational resources.

Finally, Tunde Omotoye, cofounder and CEO of Schooliply, emphasized the accessibility of scholarship opportunities for students seeking to study abroad.

Omotoye urged students to validate research and avoid relying on hearsay, emphasizing the need for diligence in pursuing educational opportunities.
