The 19-Year-Old Mmesoma Student Appeals for Leniency from JAMB After Manipulating UTME Result | Cliptv Online

In a dramatic turn of events, Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma, a 19-year-old student from Anambra State, has written a heartfelt letter to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), seeking forgiveness and leniency for her act of manipulating her 2023 Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) result.

Mmesoma appeared before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on alleged Manipulation of Unified Tertiary and Matriculation Examination (UTME) result in Abuja on Wednesday to present her letter of apology titled “Letter of Profound Apology.”

Expressing remorse, Mmesoma openly admitted that what she had done was wrong, stating that her purpose for presenting the letter was to seek forgiveness. She humbly acknowledged that she obtained her JAMB result from another portal and publicly lambasted JAMB, for which she deeply apologized.

Addressing the committee, she attributed her actions to ignorance and expressed the depth of pain in her heart for bringing public institutions into disrepute. Mmesoma emphasized that it was completely out of character for her to engage in result manipulation or any form of misdemeanor. She assured the committee of her genuine repentance and willingness to rectify her mistake, promising to become a better person moving forward.

The Registrar of JAMB, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, confirmed Mmesoma’s act of result manipulation, attributing it to the complicity of the examination center where she had written the exam. As a consequence, the center has been banned for aiding and abetting fraud. Prof Oloyede revealed that eight other centers in Anambra State are currently under investigation in connection with Mmesoma’s case. He vehemently dismissed any insinuations of loopholes in JAMB’s processes and procedures, urging the public to exercise caution and maintain confidence in public institutions.

Prof Oloyede further emphasized that JAMB has implemented innovative measures to reduce human interference in its operational processes, thereby enhancing public trust. He shared an alarming incident of falsification by another candidate, expressing his determination to tackle such issues diligently.

The Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Sanda Soli, advised Mmesoma to mend her ways and never allow such misconduct to recur. The committee, meanwhile, continues its investigation into the matter.

As this story unfolds, the nation awaits JAMB’s decision on whether leniency will be granted to Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma, while reflecting on the broader implications of result manipulation in the education sector.
