WRAHP Organized A 3Days Sensitization In Ojo, Oshodi-Isolo LG

The Women’s Right and Health Project(WRAHP) has sensitized 40 Civil Society Organisations of Ojo and Oshodi Isolo Local Government for 3days so as to be able to offer services of safe places for the survivors of Sexual and gender based violence(SGBV).

The Programme manager of WRAHP, Mr. James Unaegbu made this known on 3 day capacity building workshop held on Thursday at Toluwalashe hall, Governor’s Road Ikotun Lagos, that the project is a year long project which began since August 15 2021 and would probably round up July 2022, with 2 representatives chosen from each organization to promote the uptake of justice related to social services from the Idera SARC and Ireti Resources/referral centre, while one of them Idera centre is domiciled in Alimosho General Hospital.

Mr. James expressed that these are the facilities and inclusions the government has put in place to help the survivors of sexual and gender based violence.

He stressed that there is need for this awareness and workshops in these areas because Alimosho has the highest report of SGBV in Lagos State. Also informed that there shall be monthly meeting that would be tagged town hall meeting to take it to the next level among which beneficiaries and all reports would be taken to the ministry of health to improve their services.

The Facilitator, Executive Director of Nigeria network of NGO, Mr. Oyebisi B. Oluseyi spoke about the importance of Gender and Social inclusion through creating awareness to this sense that a world without woman and girl is not a perfect world and that we must redress and reduce a lot of culture that does not value girl child and respect their opinions.

He stressed further that the dignity of human persons must be respected and should be noted that we now have laws which respect the human rights and helping the vulnerable in our society and ensure that we work effectively to redress that we don’t want a woman to be beaten by a man or woman beating a man in Nigeria. And stop violence and assault everywhere.

A participant of the workshop, Mrs Rosemary Osakwe commended the organiser of the workshop for increasing her wealth of knowledge that her 3 days at the workshops taught her a lot of things she does not know before and she is a change woman now to do it right back home to help our survivors. She said.

Another participant, Mr. Oluwatade Titus described the training as fantastic to giving him a lot of insight of gender inclusion, discrimination between health and social perspective of gender.

He appealed thereby to the government of the day to give WRAHP enough recognition to encourage more of her efforts in the society for getting this far.
