365 Days: Imota NYCN Launches Street to Skills | ClipTV Online

Celebrating 365 days in office, the current National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Imota Local Chapter has held an accountability session. The administration was inaugurated in June 2024, after the four-year tenure of Comrade Folarin Adegboyega.

It highlights impactful programs held to develop the youths and make Imota a safer place for all. The administration further used the opportunity to engage Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and has since the inauguration embarked on a number of projects to enhance youth development in Imota LCDA.

This celebration of the 365 days in office was tagged: The Journey of Empowerment and Transformation. It highlighted the transformative achievements of the administration since its inauguration. It further served as a community-based organization management meeting to engage other organizations within Imota LCDA.

The current administration, led by the local chapter coordinator, Comrade Oriyomi Adebogun, celebrated its inaugural year with the accountability program.

Oriyomi, in his remarks, underscored his administration’s achievements. The focal point of these achievements is taking children off the street and integrate them back to school — tagged: Back to School project.

According to the coordinator, his executive has embarked on a survey that revealed an alarming number of children on the streets of Imota who should be in school.

“Over four hundred and thirty children were found on the street during school hours,” Oriyomi shockingly revealed. Some of these children are either hawking or aimlessly roaming on the streets.

He, however, noted that 45 of the 430 out-of-school children have been re-integrated back into school. These 45, fully kitted with school materials were provided with school books, uniforms, sandals, and bags. They will also receive continuous support during their period in school. “They are, therefore, our Ambassadors till they are graduated,” he said.

This 45 pupils does not include several other hundreds of pupils provided with school uniforms. These other pupils are in school but with torn uniforms. Some of them are without writing materials and, or sandals.

Another highlighted initiative includes the OFF-THE-STREET, BACK TO WORKSHOP (Street to SKILL) program. This is a new initiative to support youths interested in acquiring scalable skills. NYCN Imota Branch is partnering with the Lagos State Council of Tradesmen and Artisans (LASCOTA) to achieve the Street to Skill initiative.

The event also witnessed medals and plaques awarded to winners of different game competitions. These games include ‘Ayo-Olopon’, Table – Tennis, Boxing, Whot, etc.

Other achievements in the first year include monthly aerobic exercises, digital marketing literacy, cleaning exercises, and holding interactive sessions with political leaders for accountability.

Dignitaries at the inaugural 365 days includes youth stakeholders, NYCN Lagos Chapter Chairman, and other CBO.
