Cyber Security: NCC, Nigerian Army Forge Stronger Alliance Against Threats | clip

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration. The commission noted the significance to enhance cybersecurity and safeguard Nigeria’s critical digital infrastructure. This was discussed during a high-level visit by a delegation from the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command to the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The visit, led by the Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Major General E.S. Mustapha, provided a strategic platform for both institutions to deepen cooperation. It also serve as an opportunity to exchange knowledge on emerging cyber threats, and identify areas of partnership aimed at strengthening the nation’s cybersecurity architecture.

In the course the meeting, officials of the NCC and the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command held discussions on the evolving cyber threat landscape. They further noted the growing importance of securing Nigeria’s communications infrastructure, and the need for closer institutional collaboration in addressing cyber risks that could impact national security and the digital economy.

The meeting also underscored the importance of intelligence sharing, capacity building, and coordinated responses to cyber incidents. Noting these actions as part of broader efforts to improve the resilience of Nigeria’s telecommunications and information technology ecosystem.

Representing the Commission at the meeting was the Head of the Information Technology Department, Mrs. Nkiru L. Ebenmelu. Ebenmelu joined other officials in receiving the military delegation and reaffirming the Commission’s commitment to fostering partnerships that promote a secure, resilient and trusted digital environment.

Both organisations acknowledged that the increasing sophistication of cyber threats requires stronger collaboration among government institutions and security agencies. Adding that critical infrastructure operators need to effectively protect Nigeria’s digital assets and communications networks.

The engagement reflects the shared commitment of the Commission and the Command to advance national cybersecurity objectives through strategic partnerships. The advocacy visit also highlights knowledge exchange and coordinated initiatives designed to strengthen the security and resilience of Nigeria’s digital ecosystem.
