Akpabio Urges Presidential Aides on Community Engagement | ClipTV Online

Godswill Akpabio

To enhance community engagement and ensuring effective governance, the  Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has charged Presidential Aides on community engagement to ensure robust feedback to the presidency on activities across various zones in the country.

Akpabio delivered this charge during a courtesy call by the Forum of Senior Special Assistants to the President on Community Engagement, led by Abdullahi Yakasai, SSA to the President on Community Engagement, at his office on Tuesday.

Addressing the six Presidential Aides, representing each of the six geo-political zones of the country, Akpabio emphasized their role as ambassadors of the Presidency at the grassroots level. He urged them to closely monitor activities in their respective zones and provide comprehensive feedback to the President.

Highlighting the importance of their role, Akpabio stated, “You must give feedback to Mr. President. You must have a record of your engagement together with members of the Legislature, whether at the state level or at the national level.”

He stressed the need for bipartisan collaboration, stating, “Even if it is APGA Senator that is doing empowerment in Aba or Umuahia, you must be there to see because it is all about touching the lives of the people.”

Akpabio further underscored the importance of their role in promoting the Renewed Hope Agenda across party lines, emphasizing that governance is for all Nigerians. He urged them to disseminate information on government initiatives such as student loans schemes and security updates to the grassroots level.

The leader of the delegation, Moremi Ojudu, Senior Special Assistant to the President for South West Zone, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to introduce the forum to the Senate leadership and solicited their support.

In conclusion, Akpabio commended the President for the initiative of appointing Senior Special Assistants dedicated to community engagement, affirming the government’s commitment to grassroots development and governance.
