The All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on the police and the Department of State Security (DSS) to investigate the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) allegation of Boko Haram terrorist group arrested by the Police following their foiled plot to attack the residence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Felix Morka, had made the accusation in a statement, claiming that the suspected members of the Boko Haram terrorist group arrested in connection with the foiled plot were sponsored by the APC.
The APC swiftly responded, condemning the PDP’s allegations as baseless and irresponsible. The ruling party accused the PDP of resorting to lies and gibberish following its defeat in the last presidential election. The APC criticized the PDP for politicizing serious security matters and spreading falsehoods without any evidence to back up their claims.
While acknowledging Atiku Abubakar’s status as a Nigerian citizen deserving of protection, the APC insisted that the PDP cannot continue to peddle criminal blackmail and falsehoods in the name of opposition politics. The party called for a thorough investigation by the police, DSS, and other relevant security agencies, urging the PDP’s leadership to substantiate their claims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The APC also pointed out that rather than engage in introspection after their electoral defeat, the PDP has chosen to swim in a pool of lies and mischief. The ruling party advised the PDP to focus on the pending court case challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu and let the court deliver its verdict.
The call for investigation and demand for accountability from the PDP by the APC highlights the ongoing political tensions in Nigeria and the heightened sensitivity surrounding security issues in the country. As both parties continue to engage in a war of words, the nation waits to see how the situation will unfold and whether the allegations will be substantiated or dismissed.
