In a bid to empower brands and entrepreneurs, BrandTell Nigeria hosted its 5th edition of the summit titled “Boost Your Business using Social Media: Scaling – A Path to Pivot or Profit for Sustainability.” The event, which took place on Thursday, aimed to provide valuable insights on branding, exposure, networking, and exhibiting for businesses.

The convener, Adenike Morounkeji Fagbemi, a seasoned journalist, curated a diverse panel of experts from various business sectors to share their knowledge with participants.

In her welcoming address, Fagbemi highlighted the summit’s purpose: bridging the gap between business owners and the effective use of social media to reach their target audience. The summit promised networking opportunities, sales avenues, exhibitions, breakout sessions for interaction, and more.

Keynote Speech on SMEs by Mr. Oke Godwin:
Mr. Oke Godwin, a business development strategist representing Mr. Olusegun Ganiyu Abiru, delivered the keynote speech. He emphasized the significant role Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) play in the Nigerian economy, contributing about 60%. SMEs constitute approximately 95% of all registered companies in Nigeria.

Highlighting the potential of SMEs, Godwin stressed the importance of setting up businesses with sustainability in mind. He urged entrepreneurs to establish goals that ensure the business can sustain itself even in the absence of the founder.

Panel Discussion on Business Growth and Financial Management:
During a panel discussion, a financial analyst addressed the challenge of inflation (26%) in Nigeria, advising businesses to grow faster than the inflation rate. He emphasized the need to reinvest profits into the business and advocated for business owners to pay themselves a salary.

Mr. Femi Oshofowora, CEO of Embrace INNOVATION and a realtor, added insights on the significance of having a vision and mission statement for every business. He stressed the importance of setting goals and highlighted the necessity for businesses to establish an online presence.

Princess Adefunke Adewunmi on Branding and Mental Health:
Princess Adefunke Adewunmi, also known as Queen Mother, posed critical questions to the audience: How marketable are you? Do you show appreciation to customers after each sale? She underscored the importance of uniqueness in business, urging entrepreneurs to find ways to package and brand their ventures uniquely.

Addressing the mental health aspect, Adewunmi shared her personal experience, emphasizing the need for business owners to be mindful of their mental well-being. She encouraged entrepreneurs to take breaks when necessary to protect their mental health amid the pressures of business growth.

Breakout Sessions and Networking:
The summit also featured breakout sessions where business owners exchanged insights, shared success stories, and discussed challenges. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions, learn from each other’s experiences, and boost each other’s social media presence.

In conclusion, the BrandTell Nigeria Summit succeeded in providing a platform for learning, networking, and collaboration, equipping businesses with the tools needed for growth and sustainability.
