Breaking: Suspended CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, Faces Potential Re-Arrest Despite Bail | Cliptv Online

In a surprising turn of events, the counsel to the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, Mr. Joseph Daudu, SAN, raised the alarm that the Department of State Service (DSS) was seemingly determined to re-arrest his client, even after the court granted him bail.

Earlier, Justice Nicolas Oweibo had granted Emefiele bail in the sum of N20 million and required one surety in the same amount. This decision came following Emefiele’s arraignment by the DSS on two charges of illegal possession of firearms.

However, shortly after the bail was granted and Emefiele was ordered to be remanded in prison custody, DSS operatives drove the Hillux Pick Up van that was used to bring him to court, suggesting their intentions to return him to their detention center.

In response to the potential re-arrest, Daudu informed the court about the DSS’s plot. Despite the court’s acknowledgment that he had fulfilled the bail requirements, Daudu expressed the desire to perfect the bail conditions to ensure Emefiele’s release.

The judge, uncertain about what actions to take in light of the situation, requested Daudu to allow him to handle other matters before the court and then return to discuss the matter further.

During this time, scores of hooded DSS operatives were observed around the courtroom, indicating their possible intention to re-arrest Emefiele.

The situation has raised concerns and uncertainty, with Emefiele’s counsel seeking to prevent his re-arrest and secure his release following the bail granted by the court. The developments have left observers and the public on edge as they await further updates on the matter.
