Citizens Watch Africa Commends NCC Boss For Sector Revamp |ClipTV Online

In a press conference on Tuesday, the Citizens Watch Africa (CWA) has expressed its appreciation for the commendable efforts of Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), in revitalizing the telecommunications sector.

The group commended Maida for implementing noteworthy reforms aimed at enhancing stakeholder confidence in the sector. Consequently attracting increased investments in vital telecom infrastructure. Hon. Pastor Dave Ogbole, the convener of the group, highlighted this achievement following a thorough evaluation of NCC’s operations over the past six months.

Ogbole emphasized the renewed emphasis on transparency and accountability within the NCC leadership under Maida’s guidance, leading to enhanced governance processes and a fair playing field for all sector participants.

Citizens Watch Africa acknowledged the positive impact of these reforms, noting a marked improvement in NCC’s productivity and effectiveness. Stakeholder engagement initiatives have been particularly fruitful, with feedback mechanisms facilitating ongoing sector improvements.

The group cited key statistics reflecting the sector’s progress, including a marginal increase in active voice and internet subscriptions, despite a slight decrease in teledensity and broadband penetration. These trends, according to the group, underscore Maida’s commitment to revitalizing the sector and positioning it for sustained growth.

Finally, Citizens Watch Africa hailed Dr. Aminu Maida for his dedication and vision in implementing transformative policies to optimize the telecom industry’s performance. The group urged Maida to continue providing exemplary leadership to drive Nigeria’s telecommunications sector towards sustainable growth and development.
