Eid-el-Kabir: Senator Abiru Gifts Food Packs to 12,000 Lagos Homes | ClipTV Online

In the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of constituents, Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, has distributed food packs to 12,000 households across the district.

The Eid-el-Kabir Food Pack Distribution Programme, held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, spanned all 16 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LGs/LCDAs) within Lagos East, including Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe, and Somolu.

This timely intervention aims to cushion the effects of economic hardship, particularly the escalating prices of food items, and to ensure that families celebrate the Sallah festivities with dignity and joy.

Thousands of residents—including persons with disabilities, the elderly, women, and unemployed youths—benefited from the initiative. Some beneficiaries were nominated through an online platform, ensuring transparency and inclusivity in the selection process. Each food pack contained essential staples such as rice and garri.

Speaking during the distribution exercise at his Ikorodu Constituency Office, Senator Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, described the gesture as part of his broader strategy to support constituents during major festive seasons.

“This programme reflects our continued commitment to the welfare of the people of Lagos East. With the current economic challenges, many families are finding it difficult to afford basic needs. It is our duty to stand with them and offer support, especially during seasons of spiritual reflection and celebration like Eid-el-Kabir,” Senator Abiru said.

He further noted that the intervention complements efforts by the Federal and Lagos State Governments in addressing food security and stabilizing the economy.

“We must all work together—federal, state, and elected representatives—to alleviate the burdens on our people. I commend the various government initiatives in addressing the cost of living, and we will continue to do our part to support our communities.

“I wish all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir. May this sacred season renew our hope, deepen our faith, and inspire us to support one another in love and unity,” he concluded.

The former Deputy Governor of Lagos State and APC Apex Leader in Lagos State, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, along with other notable party and community leaders, commended Senator Abiru for his steadfast dedication to improving the lives of his constituents.

The food distribution programme is one of many under Senator Abiru’s acclaimed #DoingGood initiative, a holistic framework focused on sustainable development and social impact. Other interventions have included digital and vocational training, educational scholarships, grants for small businesses, and humanitarian support across Lagos East.
