Fidelity Bank Extends Food Relief to Over 1,000 Families in Kogi

Fidelity Bank Plc has distributed essential food items to more than 1,000 families in Kogi State through its Fidelity Food Bank Initiative. It reaffirms commitment to supporting vulnerable households and addressing food insecurity across Nigeria.

The outreach, held at the Youth Centre in Lokoja, is part of the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. It is aimed at providing relief to families facing economic challenges and to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2.

Since its launch in April 2023, the Fidelity Food Bank Initiative has reportedly reached hundreds of thousands of beneficiaries across the country.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Regional Bank Head, North Central II, Fidelity Bank Plc, Mrs. Blessing Onwumere, described the initiative as one of the bank’s major CSR programs.

She said the intervention was designed not only to provide immediate food support but also to strengthen communities and contribute to the well-being and resilience of vulnerable households.

“Today’s distribution will provide essential food supplies to over 1,000 beneficiaries. This initiative goes beyond the distribution of food items; it is about uplifting lives, strengthening communities, and supporting families with resources that contribute to their wellbeing and resilience,” Onwumere said.

She also expressed appreciation to the Lokoja community, Abbasid Foundation, and other partners for supporting the initiative.

Kogi Government Commends Intervention

The Kogi State Government commended Fidelity Bank for the initiative, describing it as a demonstration of responsible corporate citizenship.

The state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Yahaya Faruk said the intervention complemented government efforts to improve the welfare of vulnerable residents, particularly women and young people.

He urged other corporate organizations to emulate the initiative, noting that stronger partnerships between government and the private sector could help improve the lives of more Nigerians.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, described the intervention as timely, particularly for young people across the state.

He expressed the state government’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with Fidelity Bank and other organizations supporting community development.

Beneficiaries Express Appreciation

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Zainab Abubakar, expressed appreciation to Fidelity Bank, saying the food items would provide meaningful support for her family.

She said the assistance had brought relief to her household and prayed for the continued success of the bank’s community-focused initiatives.

The Kogi outreach further underscores Fidelity Bank’s broader efforts to deploy its CSR programs towards addressing social and economic challenges while supporting underserved communities across Nigeria.
