Fubara Urges Rivers NSCDC on Diligence, Resilience, Loyalty | Cliptv Online

Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara GSSRS addressed the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Rivers State Command. This was in a In a bid to honor the spirit of the World Civil Defence Day and the 2022 Regular Intakes Passing Out Parade. The gathering, held at the NSCDC Command Headquarters in Port Harcourt, Governor Fubara being represented by Barrister Tammy Wenike Danagogo, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG).

Successful Crime Combat

Fubara praised the Corps’ success in curbing crimes, especially in collaboration with other security agencies. Oil theft, cultism, and various offenses in Rivers State have been effectively countered by the NSCDC, commended the Governor’s representative.

2024 Regular Intakes

Barr. Danagogo encouraged the 2024 Regular Intake officers, urging them to remain dedicated and loyal to their nation. He emphasized that diligence and loyalty could pave the way for their destined future.

World Civil Defence Day

The event also served as a platform to celebrate the 2024 World Civil Defence Day. However, this is an occasion observed annually by member countries of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO). This was acknowledged by the SSG, who congratulated Commandant Basil Igwebueze, Senior Management officers, and other personnel.

NSCDC History

Acting Zonal Commander Commandant Aniekan Udoeyop delved into the historical roots of the NSCDC. Dated back to its formation as the Lagos Civil Defence Committee during the Civil War era in 1967. He praised the transformation of the organization into a full-fledged Federal Government Paramilitary Agency with the passage of the enabling Act in 2003 and subsequent amendments.

Commandant Udoeyop lauded the leadership of Commandant General Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni.OFR, noting his efforts in enhancing the organization’s professionalism, training, welfare, and overall operational effectiveness.

Rivers State Commandant, in his media address, emphasized the importance of adherence to the NSCDC Code of Conduct and Standard Operating Procedures. He highlighted the need for gallant, dedicated, and loyal officers to maintain the ethical standards of the Corps while combating criminal activities.

Deployment for Training

The newly recruited officers and men were informed of their forthcoming intanship training, during which they would be acquainted with the daily operations and functions of various Departments and Units within the command.
