To render accountability to his constituents, Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, presented his administration’s account of stewardship over the past three years to members of the press.

Ogunlewe, who was entrusted with the leadership of Kosofe Local Government, presented a comprehensive scorecard, which he described as a testament to the collective efforts and achievements of his team.

Ogunlewe attributed his administration’s achievements to the hard work and dedication of his staff in Kosofe LG, his committed council members, community leaders, and residents who have provided unwavering support since the inception of his tenure.

Key Achievements:

1. Infrastructure Development:
Ogunlewe highlighted the administration’s infrastructure development initiative, “KOSOFE WORKS,” emphasizing the construction of 30 roads across all seven wards of the local government. Some notable roads include:

– Mende: Abioye Street, Alade Street, Atiba Osborne Street, Odugbesan Avenue.
– Anthony: Adebayo Mokuolu Street, Deji Oduunga Street, Mudi Lane Street, Alade Lawal Street.
– Ifako/Gbagada: Aran-orin Street, Julius Kadiri Street, Ibrahim Onashokun Street (ongoing), Ilawe Street (ongoing).

The administration also focused on the construction and maintenance of drainage systems to prevent flooding and improve sanitation.

The first phase of borehole construction included locations such as Eyiaro Orioke Street, Adebare Street, Round About Market, Soluyi Ayodele Okeowo Street, and others across different wards to ensure residents have access to clean water.

Education:

Ogunlewe’s administration has prioritized education by providing:

– Yearly distribution of 200 GCE and 200 JAMB forms since 2021.
– Free tutorial classes for GCE and JAMB form beneficiaries.
– Adult Literacy Advocacy Program.
– Annual Spelling Bee Competition.
– Construction of a one-story block of classrooms at Mosafejo Primary School.

Healthcare:

Efforts to improve healthcare included:

– Construction of Oworo Primary Health Centre (PHC).
– Purchase of ambulances.
– Provision of free consultations and drugs for staff.
– Mini health missions and free eye glasses for residents.
– Monthly fueling of PHCs.
– Quarterly deworming exercises.
– Quarterly polio vaccination campaigns.

Environmental Sustainability:

The administration’s commitment to cleanliness included:

– Desilting of major canals and drains.
– Provision of waste bins to various communities.
– Participation in the 2024 Tree Planting Exercise.

Technological Advancement:

Provision of gadgets for the ICT unit to ensure the effectiveness and safety of the local government’s information.

Kosofe Food Bank:

In response to economic challenges, the administration initiated a food bank distributing staple food items to vulnerable residents through various phases and collaborative efforts.

Utility and Official Vehicles:

The administration purchased multiple vehicles for different purposes, including buses for legislators, market women and men, press crews, political office holders, and security bikes, among others.
