LASTMA, Nigerian Army Strengthen Partnership for Traffic Management in Lagos

In an effort to enhance traffic management in Lagos, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Nigerian Army have agreed to strengthen their partnership. The decision was reached during a working visit by officials of the 9 Brigade Command of the Nigerian Army, led by Brigadier General Adegoke Moses Adetuyi, to the LASTMA headquarters in Oshodi.

Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the General Manager of LASTMA, expressed his appreciation for the visit and emphasized the importance of the collaboration between the two agencies. He addressed a recent incident involving a face-off between a LASTMA officer and a soldier, stating that the relationship between the two agencies remains strong and that they will work to ensure such incidents do not recur. He also highlighted the necessity of maintaining effective communication channels to swiftly resolve any issues that arise.

Brigadier General Adetuyi, the Commander of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, stressed the significance of unity among security agencies to combat criminal elements effectively. He called for greater collaboration and cooperation among government agencies, including LASTMA, to achieve their collective goals. He commended LASTMA for their dedicated work in managing traffic and pledged continued support from the Nigerian Army, particularly the 9 Brigade Command, to ensure the safety and success of LASTMA’s operations.

During the visit, other senior officials from both LASTMA and the Nigerian Army were present, further underscoring the commitment to strengthening this partnership. The officials discussed strategies for better coordination, improved communication, and enhanced safety measures for traffic managers on the roads.

The partnership between LASTMA and the Nigerian Army holds the potential to enhance traffic management efforts in Lagos and contribute to safer and more efficient roadways. The collaborative approach demonstrates a collective commitment to public safety and effective governance.
