Collaborative Effort Aims to Create Awareness and Combat Menace in Society.

In a groundbreaking initiative, the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), alongside several esteemed law enforcement agencies, has taken to the streets of Lagos to embark on a massive sensitization walk. The aim of this endeavor is to raise awareness about the grave perils posed by drug abuse, cultism, and domestic violence within society.

The unprecedented event kicked off at the Commissioner of Police’s office in GRA, Ikeja, and traversed major highways in the metropolis, including Medical Road, Obafemi Awolowo Way, Allen/Adeniyi Jones Junction, Alausa Secretariat, Governors Avenue, and more. The procession culminated at the State House of Assembly, where officials warmly received the contingent. During this visit, the Association earnestly implored Honorable Mudashiru Obasa and the legislative assembly to continue their efforts in crafting laws that deter and combat the vices of drug abuse, cultism, and domestic violence.

The sensitization walk was inaugurated by the Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, Bassey Ewah. The Commissioner emphasized the commitment of the Force, particularly the Lagos State Command, to eradicating crime within the state. He welcomed the collaboration of stakeholders who share this crucial objective, lauding the NAOSNP for spearheading this new strategy in the fight against societal menaces.

“With your initiative, people will become more enlightened and empowered to make the right choices. Just imagine the potential harm a drunken driver can inflict on innocent lives. Your efforts bring us halfway towards our goal, and we stand firmly behind you,” asserted the Commissioner.

He further expressed the readiness of the Lagos State Command to forge a formidable partnership with the NAOSNP, firmly resolved to reduce these societal issues to their barest minimum.

Adding his voice to the cause, the Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lagos State Command, Usman Ishaq Adoro, represented by the Deputy Commander, Kareem Makinde, highlighted the link between drug use and the prevalent issues of banditry, cultism, and terrorism. He acknowledged the collective effort of the Army, Police, and NAOSNP, affirming their commitment to waging a united war and achieving resounding victory.

The sensitization walk saw the participation of various agencies, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), and the Center for the Defence of Human Rights, among others. This display of solidarity from diverse sectors underscores the gravity of the issues at hand and the need for a comprehensive and unified approach.

Mr. Samson Oki, President of the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, addressed the participants earlier, emphasizing their genuine concern for the future of the nation’s youth. He underscored the association’s commitment to actively contribute to the battle against drug abuse, cultism, and domestic violence, recognizing the urgent need to confront these deep-rooted problems plaguing the younger generation.

“As stakeholders, we cannot remain on the sidelines merely reporting these issues. It is our responsibility to combat this menace that has insidiously infiltrated the lives of our youth,” stated Oki.
