NAOSNP Congratulates Egbetokun on Confirmation As Inspector General of Police | Cliptv Online

The National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Nigerian Police Chief, Kayode Egbetokun, on his well-deserved confirmation by the Nigerian Police Council as the substantive Inspector General of Police.

This confirmation comes on the heels of the super cop’s impressive performances over the past few months he has operated in an acting capacity. NAOSNP acknowledges and recognizes the extraordinary dedication and professionalism that Egbetokun has brought to the role.

It is worth noting that Egbetokun, born on September 4, 1964, hails from the Egbado South Local Government Area of Ogun State. He was appointed Acting IGP by President Bola Tinubu on June 19, 2023, succeeding Baba Usman Alkali.

Egbetokun began his service to the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet ASP (Course 16) on March 3, 1990. He is set to celebrate 35 years of dedicated service by September 2024, in accordance with police regulations.

A distinguished Mathematician, Egbetokun has served in various capacities within the force, amassing a wealth of professional and international experience. In 1999, he took on the role of Chief Security Officer to then-Governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu.

Egbetokun has also served as the Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos, Squadron Commander of Mopol 5 in Benin City, Officer-in-Charge of the Anti-Fraud Unit in the FCT Command in Abuja, Chief Superintendent of Police in Administration at the Lagos State Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Area Commander in Osogbo, Osun State Command, and Area Commander in Gusau, Zamfara State Command, at various times.

On September 29, 2020, he was promoted to the position of Commissioner of Police and was assigned to Kwara State. In September 2022, he rose to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, serving in Zone 7 (Abuja). Until his appointment as the acting Inspector-General of Police, he held the role of Deputy Inspector-General of Police, overseeing Force CID in Abuja.
