In an impressive show of force and determination, the Lagos State Police Command has achieved remarkable results in just one week since the launch of “Operation Flush.” The operation, initiated by the State Commissioner of Police, Idowu Owohunwa, aimed to tackle and suppress various criminal activities within the metropolis.
During the operation’s brief tenure, the police made several arrests, targeting notorious criminals who had been terrorizing specific locations in the state. Among those apprehended were daredevil armed robbers, responsible for heinous crimes, including the killing of an Inspector in the Ijanikin area. The police also apprehended criminals involved in robbing infrastructure, as well as an Uber driver turned armed robber.
In a press conference held at the Command headquarters on Friday, the Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, shared the accomplishments of Operation Flush. He stated, “The operation was launched to tackle pockets of crime that were resurfacing in parts of Lagos State. Beyond that, the operation is also to support existing frameworks for battling violent crimes like robbery and cultism amongst other vices.”
Within the one-week period under review, a total of 39 suspects engaged in various criminal activities, such as murder, armed robbery, stealing, cultism, and vandalization, were apprehended and paraded by the police.
Notably, during these arrests, the police successfully recovered six firearms, twenty-six live ammunition, two expended ammunition, a battle axe, four vehicles, hard drugs, counterfeit currencies, wristwatches, phones, a knife, and aluminum rails.
Assuring the residents of Lagos, the Commissioner of Police pledged that the command would continue to take all necessary operational measures to reduce crime and criminality to the barest minimum in the State. With Operation Flush in action, the police are determined to ensure a safer and more secure environment for the people of Lagos.
