Government Response

However, Governor Caleb Mutfwang had imposed a curfew after the fresh killings were recorded in the area, on Tuesday, (@Imranmuhdz).  He has imposed a 24-hour curfew in an attempt to restore peace and order. Also to prevent further violence. The curfew aims to protect the safety of residents and provide the needed security forces. It is also to provide the necessary space to investigate the course of the attack thoroughly.

According to a tweet on X this morning some religious leaders were also attacked. Suleiman Muhammad, a resident of Mangu, told Daily Trust that “At around 9:30 am, gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons. They came and started shooting sporadically. They burnt a lot of houses, including the Sunnah Islamiya School. Some persons were killed. They have overwhelmed the security personnel currently in Mangu. We are completely surrounded by the gunmen,” he said, (@Imranmuhdz). Local leaders and community members are rallying together to support one another in the wake of this catastrophe. Grief-stricken neighbors are consoling one another. It is believed that efforts are underway to seek assistance from relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations. This help is to address the immediate needs of those affected.
