The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has appointed Opeyemi Fatinikun, mni as one of the newly designated Deputy Controller Generals (DCG) of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
The official decoration ceremony was conducted by Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, alongside Hon. Sanya Omirin (Member, House of Representatives, Ijesha North Constituency).

This appointment underscores President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the Nigerian Correctional Service and ensuring effective reforms within the justice and security sector.
Expressing gratitude for the appointment, DCG Opeyemi Fatinikun, mni pledged continued dedication, loyalty, and service to the nation. He particularly noted that he will continue to advance correctional reforms, improving rehabilitation programs, and promoting security within the correctional system.
Prior to this appointment, Fatinikun has been serving as the Zonal Coordinator, Assistant Controller General serving Zone A. The Zone A of correction covers Lagos and Ogun State correctional centers.

He has also served in different capacity in the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). This includes serving as officer in charge of facilities, Lagos PRO, National PRO, and other positions that has positively impacted the lives of inmates and the public image of NCoS.
The Nigerian Correctional Service plays a vital role in national security and rehabilitation. Opeyemi Fatinikun has been part of this development by commiting himself to National security. With this new appointment, stakeholders expect renewed commitment to innovative policies that will strengthen the Service and contribute to Nigeria’s broader security and justice reforms.
