…RRS Operatives Apprehend Individuals Ignoring Laws on Public Speaker Use; CP Fayoade Warns Against Disturbing Public Peace
In Shasha, Akowonjo area of Lagos, three individuals have been arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) for organizing a street carnival in blatant disregard for existing laws regulating the use of speakers in public spaces in Lagos State.
The suspects, identified as Julius Osimirin (43), Isiaka Kabiru (16), and Ajewole Ajugba (42), were apprehended at approximately 12:23 p.m. on Abatti Street, Shasha, as they were setting up for the carnival. The arrest follows the directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, to the Commander of RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to take action against anyone attempting to violate these laws.
CP Fayoade had previously engaged with the carnival organizers, advising them to secure a venue for their event and refrain from shutting down streets or causing disturbances in public spaces.
The suspects will face charges at the conclusion of investigations, as the police emphasize their commitment to upholding laws and maintaining public peace.
