Police Detain Woman Following Tragic Incident Involving Her 17-Year-Old Son; Victim to Be Placed in Orphanage Home

Police in Kogi State have taken into custody the stepmother of an 11-year-old boy who was allegedly buried alive by the woman’s 17-year-old son. The heartbreaking incident unfolded on Wednesday, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to SP Williams Ovye-Aya, the police spokesman in Kogi State, the stepmother was apprehended on Thursday immediately upon her return from a church service. The authorities acted swiftly in response to the tragic event.
The investigation, so far, has revealed that the 11-year-old boy suffered regular maltreatment at the hands of his stepmother and stepbrother. The Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in the state is working in conjunction with the police to ensure the prosecution of the individuals responsible for this heinous act.
Additionally, arrangements have been made to place the 11-year-old victim in an orphanage home, where he can receive the care, protection, and support he needs to heal from this traumatic experience. The government has vowed to seek justice for all those who commit such evil acts in Kogi.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Kogi State, Hajia Fatima Kabir Buba, strongly warned guardians who subject their wards to inhuman treatment to desist from such cruel behavior. The state authorities are determined to enforce the full weight of the law against anyone engaging in acts of cruelty against children.
