
The Lagos State House of assembly member representing Kosofe Constituency II, Hon. Femi Saheed on Thursday tasks the Constituency members on PVC registration and collection.
He made this assertion at the 8th Annual Constituency Stakeholders Meeting held at the Ikosi Isheri Local Council Secretariat, Ketu.
Hon. Femi explained that the theme for the 8th Annual Constituency Meeting Tagged, “2023 General Election: The Imperatives Of Voters’ Card” is important at this time especially at the time the country is preparing for it’s forth coming general election comes 2023.
He outline the benefits of possessing the Permanent Voters’ Card as it enables citizens to exercise their civic responsibilities by voting in the right, trustworthy, competent and capable candidates of their choice to be their leaders and representatives at all levels of government.
He however stated that, it is however quite worrisome that over 20 million PVCs still remain uncollected across the nation according to recent INEC report and of this huge figure, 1 million are from Lagos State. This situation does not augur well for our progress democracy and the development may create opportunity for incompetent person’s to be elected as our leaders and representatives and thus overturns our achievements.”
“As you know, Lagos State has been so blessed with great and visionary leaders and representatives right from the 2nd republic in 1979 when the late Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande came on board as the first civilian Governor, supported by vibrant house of assembly and most significantly from 1999 in the 4th republic with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu not just emerging as the governor of Lagos State but revered as the architect of modern day Lagos. All these were made possible due to citizens actively participating in the election to choose the right candidates.”
He appreciates the presences of all party members, traditional leaders, royal fathers, community leaders, religious leaders, market men and women, trades unions and institutions, students and teaming youths for their supports and participation during this stakeholders meeting and PVC sensitization exercise.
He further promised to continue working in harmony with the Constituency members to achieve a greater development and to represent the interest of the constituents at all times.
