Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu Bridges Divide, Reconciles with Former Governor Ambode in Grand Gesture | Cliptv Online

Four years after a heated and tumultuous period in Lagos State politics, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has succeeded in breaking the ice and reconciling with his predecessor, Akinwunmi Ambode, in a heartwarming display of forgiveness and unity.

The atmosphere at Akinwunmi Ambode’s birthday celebration was tense as Governor Sanwo-Olu entered the venue, resembling an enemy territory. However, his charismatic walk and infectious smile suggested that the bitter chapter was finally closed. It was only a few years ago that their exchanges were filled with turmoil and malice, with accusations flying back and forth. But as the saying goes, all is well that ends well.

This remarkable moment at the State House banquet showcased the unique character of Lagos, where all the governors of the state stood together as one united republic. It is a testament to the leadership of Governor Sanwo-Olu, who, at least in the public eye, thawed the icy tensions and paved the way for genuine reconciliation. The gathering witnessed the presence of Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN, a former governor of Lagos known as the Trojan, and Akinwunmi Ambode, an alpha governor, all sharing smiles alongside the BOS (Babajide Sanwo-Olu) and the Jagaban (Bola Ahmed Tinubu), with the President capping it off with a heartfelt “Akin, Thank you.”

President Tinubu, a rare figure known for his fierce fighting spirit and ability to forgive, exemplifies the adage of fighting to forgive and extending forgiveness even in the midst of conflict. He is known for creating a space of forgiveness that others can enter.

Bitterness, as Theodore Roosevelt once experienced with his successor President William Taft, has no place in shaping the future. Despite a decade of bitterness between them, the two men embraced and left their pain behind at a banquet, receiving applause from the crowd. As the Bible teaches, blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

The words of Apostle Paul resonate in this context, emphasizing that bitterness not only defiles the individual holding onto it but also affects everyone around. In choosing forgiveness and reconciliation, Governor Sanwo-Olu has set a powerful example for the people of Lagos and beyond.
