NPF Arrests 67 Suspects, Recovers Arms Nationwide | Cliptv Online

In a robust response to escalating criminal activities, the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, has successfully apprehended 67 suspects involved in various offenses across the country. The arrests were carried out by the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Department Tactical Team – DFI-IRT and DFI-STS.

The detained suspects are accused of crimes ranging from kidnapping, gunrunning, one-chance robberies, armed robbery, to banditry. The police operation yielded significant results, with the recovery of 5,454 rounds of live ammunition of different calibers, 300 live cartridges, 50 empty ammunition shells, 68 rifles, and 33 ATM cards, among other items.

Among the notable achievements is the arrest of three suspects linked to the Christmas Eve attack on villages in Plateau State. The suspects, identified as Ahmed Sulaimon, Balikisu Aliyu, and Aboki Samuel, are members of a gunrunning syndicate. The police recovered 1 AK-47 rifle, 1 AK-49 rifle, 1000 rounds of live ammunition, and 5 magazines from them.

Additionally, four suspects were apprehended in connection with a bank robbery in Otukpo, where nine AK-47 rifles were recovered. In a separate incident, five suspects faced the superior firepower of police operatives during a fierce gun duel in Taraku village, Buruku LGA of Benue State. These suspects confessed to their involvement in the heinous act and implicated other gang members who are currently at large. The suspects revealed that Terzungwe Shionda, a.k.a ‘3-star general’ (now deceased), Terlumum Pila, and one Ayuko, both at large, supplied them arms for their criminal operations.

The IGP, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring the safety and security of citizens. The police will continue relentless efforts to crack down on criminals and their activities, working tirelessly to make Nigeria a safe space for everyone.
